A message from our founder
This was never just a website.
Support Black Owned started with a simple frustration. I went looking for a Black-owned business to give my money to — and I couldn’t find one. Not because they weren’t out there, but because no one had listed them. I wanted to support my own, so I built the place I couldn’t find.
Since 2013, that idea has grown into a home for thousands of Black-owned businesses and the people who want to support them. Every listing here is a neighbor, a family, a future being built. When we choose where to spend, we choose who we lift up — and that power belongs to us.

Who we are
A one-stop home for Black business owners and the people who support them.
SBO is a premier directory and content platform for Black-owned businesses — built so owners can be found, and so customers can find them. We list businesses, tell their stories, and give entrepreneurs the tools to brand, market, and sell in their own communities and worldwide.
Beyond the listing, members get an online marketplace for products and offers, a channel to communicate directly with customers, event promotion, ratings and reviews, and an easy-to-use search built to put Black businesses in front of new buyers every day.
Most of our businesses are based across the United States, with a growing number listing from other countries as the community spreads.
SupportBlackOwned.com is owned and operated by Lee Alliance Inc., a corporation registered in Florida.
Real owners, real businesses
How we verify a listing.
We want shoppers to trust that the businesses here are the real thing. We introduced our verification process in 2024, and a business can be verified in any one of three ways:
An About Us page
A live “About Us” page on the business’s own website that confirms who they are.
A LinkedIn page
A LinkedIn profile that connects the owner to the business.
ID & proof of ownership
A photo of the owner’s driver’s license — with the address blacked out for privacy — along with proof that they own the business.
Because verification is newer than the directory itself, some businesses listed before 2024 may not have been verified yet — we’re working through them over time. Are you an owner who’d like your listing verified? Email us at herbert@supportblackowned.com.

The question we hear most
“Why isn’t there a site for White-owned businesses?”
Because the playing field has never been level. Black-owned businesses make up only a small fraction of all firms in this country, while the vast majority of businesses you encounter every day are already owned by others.
Platforms like Support Black Owned exist to close that visibility gap — to give Black-owned businesses the exposure they’ve been denied and the spotlight they need to thrive. The businesses that need representation are the ones who’ve gone unseen, not the ones already everywhere.
